Perthshire: A perfect place to be 15th September 2008
Perthshire's growing fame as an adventure playground for thrill seekers
For those who live there it is no surprise, but Perthshire's growing fame as an adventure playground for thrill seekers, has put the region in the top 10 things to see and do in Scotland.
Fishing
Holidaymakers were asked to describe their way to spend a perfect day in Scotland in an online survey by VisitScotland; with Hollywood star Billie Boyd, who starred in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, recently presenting its findings.
And for Perthshire, being strapped inside a 12ft human hamster ball and rolling down a hillside, cracking the Da Vinci Code and joining a quest for the Holy Grail, all featured.
Rafting
The River Tay's white water rapids proved a big hit with UK visitors rating it 7th and Scottish visitors the 4th most popular activity.
Other possible activities in Perthshire which featured were fine dining at the world renowned Gleneagles, taking an adventure safari through scenic wildlife locations and walking the West Highland way.
In all, a staggering list of 108,000 activities in Scotland was made available to those taking part in the survey.
Billie Boyd said: "The results of the survey show that there really is something for everyone in Scotland. Whether you simply like to explore our beautiful scenery and go dolphin watching in the Moray Firth, or would rather go to one of our natural adventure parks and throw yourself down a hill in a giant sphere, Scotland offers a wide range of fascinating adventures for all ages!"
Perthshire's popularity is why Club La Costa resort Duchally Country Estate is a favourite with its members - and why some have bought beautiful lodge country homes there.
