Flight bookings and inquiries from among its 50,000 membership have seen Turkey join southern Spain and Tenerife as the top 2010 holiday destinations, says Club La Costa Resorts & Hotels.
The company has experienced the same pre-February level of flight bookings for the Costa del Sol and Tenerife as it did in 2009, while those to Turkey have doubled.
These same destinations ranked high in a recent Skyscanner survey of the top 50 most searched for destinations from UK airports; with Malaga in 1st place, Tenerife in second and Turkey in 5th (Dalaman), with Bodrum, Turkey, in 15th.
And the British love affair with Spain saw 3 more Spanish destinations in the top 10: Alicante, Palma and Lanzarote, with 11 in total in the listing.
Flying into Malaga for the sunny Costa del Sol, passengers will be amazed by the sight of the hugely impressive new 3rd terminal, opening shortly, which will triple the airport’s capacity.
Wherever people are planning to go this summer, Julie Fenlon, Club La Costa’s Group Travel Manager, warns holidaymakers booking flights to exercise some caution. “Airlines are reviewing their schedules and we have seen a number of routes cancelled this year meaning less choice of flights.
“While booking on the internet can look like a cheaper option, many of the airlines offer no financial protection; this was apparent with the collapse of some high profile airlines last year and people found flights cancelled or, worse still, were stranded overseas.
“Club La Costa Travel will financially protect ALL flight bookings via an insurance policy or ATOL bond, so its members can be assured their money is safe in the event of any airline failure. And they are guaranteed to be repatriated in the event that they are abroad at the time of the collapse.”
The company welcomes 250,000 visitors to its resorts each year and is currently in the construction phase of a second project in Turkey, their first purpose built golf resort, close to the popular seaside town of Kusadasi.
Club La Costa Resorts & Hotels is a major supplier of holiday products in Europe with more than 25 years’ experience. It owns and manages 22 quality resorts, has a private members’ yacht club and also builds luxury freehold holiday homes.
